“And there they were: locked in a theatre, dancing, while the world slipped into chaos outside..."

S/WORDS is the new work in development by Lewis Major, generously supported by Arts SA, Country Arts SA, the Festival Centre inSPACE program and Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre.
S/WORDS follows a slap-dash tribe of people coming to terms with the failures of a system they believed in; an apocalyptic vision of a collapsing world where language is no longer used to engender trust and solidarity, but to destroy and divide. A study in the contrasts and contradictions, the violence and transcendence of the modern human condition, S/WORDS is the palace revelry as Rome burns, the call for last drinks on a sinking steam liner, the end of an era, the end of a golden age, perhaps, the end of the world. |
