About Rich Mix
Rich Mix is an annual performance season hosted within Adelaide Fringe, the largest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere and is produced and presented by Lewis Major Projects.
Rich Mix promotes new choreographies and performance pieces by up-and-coming artists in Australia without the pressure of securing the initial financial resource, technical know-how and administrative support to present their own season of work at Adelaide Fringe.
Each year, we encourage a group of Australia-based creators to present original pieces for this vibrant and renowned Adelaide festival. Participating artists benefit from workshops led by industry professionals and culminates in a showcase of their work at AC Arts Main Theatre, a state of the art theatre designed specifically for dance performance with a capacity of up to 200 attendees.
Sector leaders, critics from the industry, and the over 400 programmers and presenters from across the globe taking part in Adelaide Fringe’s Honey Pot program each year are invited to attend, eager to see new work from Australian emerging makers.
Each selected company will present their selected work alongside colleagues and is provided with technical support, rehearsal/tech time and an evening on which to present their work. They also share in ticket sales, after covering costs of the theatre (see financial details below).
Technical support, marketing support, FOH staff, access to Honey Pot, free attendance at performance/producing workshops, and all other basic administration is provided by Lewis Major Projects and Adelaide Fringe.

Financial Details
There is no cost for artists to present at Rich Mix and artists share in a percentage of Box Office sales and the risk of presenting.
The financial details are as follows: the theatre retains the first AUD $2000 from the net box office income each night; all excess earnings are split between the presenting artists and companies.
Eg. AC Arts Main Theatre has a capacity of 200 seats available for purchase. Tickets are sold at an average of $40.
i.e. 200 x $40 = $8000
$2000 / $40 = 50 tickets.
With an estimated 4 artists/companies performing each night, each artist needs to sell 10 tickets in order to breakeven. All ticket proceeds sold after this point are distributed evenly amongst the presenting artists/companies. Lewis Major Projects covers the Adelaide Fringe ticketing fee and all other ancillary costs.
Professional Development Workshops
Rich Mix 2024 offers beneficial workshops, taking place from Dec – March 2023, which are complimentary for participating choreographers. These are delivered in partnership with Adelaide Fringe and Honey Pot.
